Repair or replace a slate roof?

Good slate can outlast the nails and flashing that hold it. Most leaks on slate roofs come from slipped or broken slates, worn valleys and failed flashing, and all of those can be repaired.

When a large share of the slates are soft, flaking or splitting, or the nails have failed across the roof, replacement makes more sense. We show you photos and give you a written price for both options.

Slate roofing contractor in North Jersey

Imperial Roof Repair & Replacement repairs and replaces slate roofs on homes in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon and Somerset counties. Every job starts with a free inspection, photos of every slope and an itemized, written price.

Signs your slate roof needs work

  • Slates cracked, slipped or missing
  • Pieces of slate in the yard or gutters
  • Rusted or loose flashing
  • Leaks at valleys or chimneys
  • Slates flaking or turning soft
  • Water stains in the attic

Why slate needs a specialist

Slate cracks under careless foot traffic and needs specific tools, fasteners and flashing details. A repair done with roofing cement or the wrong nails often causes more damage than it fixes.

How it works

How a project with Imperial works

  1. Free inspection

A roofer checks every slope, photographs what needs attention and explains it on the spot. No sales pitch.

  2. Price in writing

An itemized price in writing. Approve it and we put your job on the schedule.

  3. Installed and site cleaned

Tarps over your landscaping, a magnet sweep for nails and all debris hauled off the same day.
